The Directorate of Home Affairs and Justice of the Canton of Bern is responsible for the training and admission/examination for notaries. The Ordinance regarding the Notary Exam of October 25, 2006 (Verordnung über die Notariatsprüfung), regulates notary training.

Anyone attending courses at the Faculty of Law as part of their continuing education necessary to become a notary must be enrolled at the University of Bern. For registration, contact the Admissions Office (ZIB).
